Bay Village City Council delayed voting on a riparian protection ordinance until March. The proposed legislation covers properties located within 75 feet of a creek or those within the 100 year flood plain, whichever is larger.

The Bay Park Beach Association wants to build a 775 foot stone revetment and a timber pier off the Lake Erie coast of Bay Village. The Ohio EPA will hold a public meeting on November 14 to obtain public input on potential water quality impacts.

Westlake City Council approved a contract for a study that will analyze the implications of switching water providers from Cleveland to Avon Lake. Leaders in Bay Village and North Olmsted are considering whether to join the study.

Bay Village City Council and the Cahoon Park Trustees will decide whether to repair or demolish the decaying concrete trusses in the park. Estimates place the cost of repairing the historic interurban trusses at $84,000, while removing them would cost $52,000.

As part of the reconstruction and repaving of Lake Road in Bay Village, Rocky River, and Lakewood, ODOT will incorporate some recommendations that have been gathered through traffic studies and area stakeholder outreach, including traffic calming, streetscaping, and pedestrian amenities.

Historic concrete trusses in Bay Village's Cahoon Park are crumbling and unsafe, and need to be repaired or demolished, says Mayor Sutherland. The trusses formerly supported an abandoned interurban railway line.

Preservationists are concerned that a recently sold house on Lake Avenue in Bay Village could be demolished. The demolition of one of the City's oldest homes could mark the start a teardown trend.
