Problems for residential projects in Bedford
The slow housing market has apparently stalled two residential developments in Bedford. Construction of Bentbrook Village behind St. Pius X Catholic Church has halted, and no homes have been built at Bedford Falls, the development planned for the former Taylor Chair site.

Bedford HUD homes renovated
The City of Bedford completed the renovation of two HUD homes, and will sell them later this month through a sealed bid process. The city is also working on five other HUD homes that it has acquired.

Quiet zone planning continues
The cities of Berea, Brook Park, Olmsted Falls, and Rocky River are continuing their plans to establish railroad quiet zones. Brook Park remains on target to become the first multi-crossing quiet zone in Ohio. Bedford, meanwhile, is waiting for news from the Federal Railroad Administration about its planned quiet zone.

Bedford Wal-Mart supercenter opens
The 203,000 square foot Wal-Mart supercenter on Rockside Road in Bedford opened on Friday. It is the company's second supercenter in Cuyahoga County.

Brush Wellman brownfield site offically clean
The Ohio EPA declared that the environmental cleanup of Tinkers Creek Commerce Park is complete and issued a covenant not to sue.

Water service agreements reached
The Cities of Lakewood and Bedford reached water distribution agreements with the City of Cleveland. The agreements include the no poaching clause present in similar agreements. The Cities of Bedford Heights and Euclid also recently signed water main maintenance agreements with Cleveland.

New trails coming
The City of Shaker Heights plans to build a 1.5 mile multipurpose trail in the Shaker Boulevard median. It would form part of a trail network linking the Heights area with Cleveland's east side. Meanwhile, Bedford officials are preparing to begin work on a trail connecting City Hall to to Ellenwood Center.
