The City of Maple Heights is dropping out of the regional Northeast Ohio Sourcing Office. It's the first government entity to leave the group, which was co-founded by former Mayor Michael Ciaravino.

Six new single family houses for seniors are under construction at the Jennings Center for Older Adults in Garfield Heights. In Maple Heights, a developer has expressed interest in building apartments for seniors on a three acre site near St. Andrew Eastern Orthodox Church.

Tax proposed for Maple Heights school construction
In March, Maple Heights voters will be asked to approve a tax issue to raise $53.5 million for the proposed school construction project, which calls for replacing the high school, the middle school, and three elementary school buildings. A pair of public meetings will be held this week.

Maple Heights and Norfolk Southern reach settlement
The City of Maple Heights and Norfolk Southern reached a court-mediated settlement regarding the expansion of the intermodal terminal south of Broadway Avenue. The railroad will pay the City at least $70,000 in lieu of permit fees, pay for the majority of infrastructure improvements, and add landscaping.

Maple Heights billboard recommendation
By a vote of 3-2, the Maple Heights Planning Commission recommended that the City should permit billboards on all city-owned land, regardless of zoning, unless the billboards would be "viewable by residential districts."

Maple Heights intermodal terminal truck traffic
Maple Heights officials want Norfolk Southern to use the Greenhurst Road Extension for additional truck traffic instead of opening a new entrance on Broadway Avenue, which the railroad is planning as part of their intermodal terminal expansion. The City has filed a suit in federal court, asking the court to effectively serve as a planning commission.

Fight over Maple Heights intermodal facilty
Maple Heights leaders continue to fight the expansion of the Norfolk Southern intermodal terminal. The railroad is adding 10 acres near the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Rockside Road and 15 acres near the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Libby Road.

New Planning and Zoning Board for Maple Heights
